Faith in Action

At Our Lady of the Rosary, we believe that our faith calls us to love, serve and care for others. Catholic Social Teaching reminds us that every person is created in the image and likeness of God and that we have a responsibility to stand alongside those in need, care for creation and work for the common good. Our children are encouraged to recognise that faith is not simply something we learn about or celebrate, it is something we live out. Through fundraising, charitable giving, acts of kindness, prayer and service, our children have opportunities to make a positive difference in our school, parish, local community and wider world.

Living Our Mission

Our mission, “Love God, Others First, Respect All and Persevere to Succeed,” guides the way we put our faith into action. Throughout the year, children take part in a wide range of initiatives that enable them to respond to the needs of others and become ‘Transformers of Change’ and ‘Builders of God’s Kingdom’. From supporting local charities and community projects to responding to national and global appeals, every opportunity helps our children develop compassion, generosity and a sense of responsibility for others.

Below is our planned programme of charitable giving, fundraising, service and opportunities to support others throughout the school year.

Year 5 Bake Sale

As part of our celebration of Mary’s birthday, the children in Year 5 thought carefully about how they could make a gift to Mary through an act of kindness and service. The children made a pledge to Mary for the year and chose to put their faith into action by baking cakes to sell at our Family Festival. The money raised was donated to Macmillan Cancer Support, helping to support people and families living with cancer.

This was a wonderful opportunity for the children to see that our faith is not only about prayer and worship, but also about loving others, giving generously and making a difference.
