    Introduction

Our Lady of the Rosary School, all our values are deeply rooted in the life and teachings of Jesus. Everything we do is guided by the Gospel message, to love God and one another.
Each of our school values reflects an important aspect of Jesus’ example, showing us how to live with kindness, compassion, courage, and faith in our daily lives. For every value, we look to a moment in the Gospels where Jesus shows us what that value looks like in action.
Our values are here to remind us, inspire us, and guide us to live more like Jesus each day, in the way we learn, play, serve, and care for one another.
Below you can see each of our school values and an example of Jesus living this out in the Gospels.

    Kindness

Healing the Sick and Feeding the Hungry
Reference: Matthew 14:13–21 After hearing about the death of John the Baptist, Jesus tries to withdraw to a quiet place, but a large crowd follows Him. Instead of turning them away, He has compassion on them, heals the sick, and miraculously feeds over 5,000 people with five loaves and two fish. This shows Jesus’ kindness and care for people’s physical and emotional needs, even in His own grief.

    Inclusion

    Jesus and the Samaritan Woman
Reference: John 4:1–26 Jesus speaks to a Samaritan woman at the well, a major cultural taboo at the time due to gender, ethnic, and moral boundaries.
He engages her with dignity, offering her “living water.” This is a powerful act of inclusion, showing that God’s love is for all, regardless of background or reputation.

    Respect

    Jesus Washes the Disciples’ Feet
Reference: John 13:1–17 On the night before His crucifixion, Jesus does something shocking: He kneels down and washes His disciples’ feet, an act usually done by the lowest servant.
By serving His disciples in this way, Jesus shows deep respect and humility, honouring each person regardless of status. He teaches that true greatness comes through serving others with love and dignity.

    Resilience

    Temptation in the Wilderness
Reference: Matthew 4:1–11 Jesus fasts for 40 days in the wilderness and is tempted by Satan. Despite hunger and weakness, He resists temptation by relying on Scripture. This shows Jesus’ resilience, His strength and perseverance under intense spiritual and physical pressure.

    Excellence

    Teaching with Authority
Reference: Matthew 7:28–29 People are amazed at Jesus’ teaching because He taught “as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.”
Jesus consistently demonstrated excellence in wisdom, clarity, and truth, setting a standard that amazed even his critics.
